(I would have links for all of the listed Pianobook libraries, and will update it adding links in the future, but I was running out of time today and thought, since a couple of forum members had an interest in it, I would get it up ASAP and looked through my hard drive and wrote down the Pianobook libraries I like best.) I mostly play rock, so if you play/produce other styles, we can especially use your input.
Of course, my choices reflect my style, personal taste and genres I play, so I hope we can get recommendations from those from a wide range of styles/genres. I've also added free soft synths and invite others to add and discuss their favorites. I invite others to post libraries that play in free sample players that they have used and can personally recommend. I will update this list from time to time and welcome suggestions for making it more convenient for people. Some have a character that I find more important than detail. Some of the piano libraries on this list are, IMO, as good as commercial (paid) sample libraries. But that level of detail may not even matter for your purposes. Now, many of these libraries, while very good to excellent, still aren't at the same level as a high end, meticulously detailed and ingeniously scripted commercial (for sale) sample library. My list only includes libraries that I have used and find worthy of recommendation. It commonly means sorting through a lot of - I'll be kind - less than great sample libraries. That's why I thought it would be helpful to the community to create a curated list of RECOMMEDED free sample libraries that play in a free sample players. Finding really high quality sample libraries is a lot more challenging.
